Nwed Ibaan
Promoting education for Akwa Ibom State women.
The foundation was conceived and founded by a thriving, hardworking lady, an American of Nigerian roots, Mrs Edidiong Itoro Akpan-Iquot, fondly nick named: ‘Editoro’. She named it in her ancestral Ibibio language; Nwed Ibaan which means ‘Women Education’ or ‘Women’s studies”. Transliterated, it means “women’s book”.
Charity, they say begins at home. The foundation is meant to serve the founder’s origin, Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria. This is because, in her research, she noticed that some fathers still don’t believe in educational foundation of female children.
Mrs. Edidiong Akpan-Iquot is very passionate about women Empowerment and education, her dream is to see women lead in all capacities of life and should not be biased by education. This foundation is serving less privileged women between ages 18-55 years old.
